SHEPHERD'S HOUSE

YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

The Shepherd House Youth Enrichment Program is a community based 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  We are dedicated to serving disadvantaged communities and youth with programs and resources.  We were established in 2005 focusing on youth and parents with the “Families Involved Together for mentoring young men and women for social and academic skills.  These programs were created to meet community and parent needs of having quality affordable programs for youth and children identified as disadvantaged.  We expanded our focus on communities and adopted a collaborative approach to working in the community.  Through collaborations we expanded our services to organizing and supporting other community based organizations and our community partners.  We create and operate programs to meet the needs of the communities and the organizations we serve.  Through a dedicated group of part-time staff and volunteers we offer non-profits and community partners the following services and activities:

  • Youth Programs & Retreats

  • Event Planning

  • Meeting Management

  • Training, Facilitation & Workshops

  • Community Development & Collaborations

Youth of Tomorrow

Our youth of tomorrow program is targeted towards older youth (ages 10 & Up) with opportunities and resources for the summer and after school.  Activities may include community service, summer camps, clubs, jobs, field trips, retreats and workshops that help to expose youth to living and understanding the real world today.

Holiday Celebration/Toys for Tots Distribution

In December we sponsor a community holiday celebration with refreshments, program and distribution of toys to the children.  The program includes identifying  youth who need toys and are invited to the program.  We also adopt one or more youth from the Northern Virginia Aids Ministry (NOVAM) or other community groups.  Our youth volunteers prepare the food, present the program, shop, pickup, sort and wrap toys for the program.

Boys to Men

Boys to Men is a program designed to help young males ages 8-18 to develop character, leadership, self-discipline and teamwork. The young males will be empowered through mentoring, study, and relationship building by mature males of the community.  The program stresses the value of relationships and making responsible choices at home, at school and in the community.  Boys to Men unites males in a call to action to save our future generations, creating the men of tomorrow.

  • Community After School Academy (CASA)

  • High School Student Development Program

  • College and Career Prep

  • Personal Development – Self Awareness/Self-Esteem (SASE)

  • Other Youth Activities

A Youth Retreat and a Youth Summit are held annually to expand educational opportunities for learning and to help instill positive goals and values in youth.  Youth learn about job and volunteer opportunities in the community, attend the teen expo, college fairs and other activities that can help them to obtain employment, references for college applications and real world skills.
